Google conquest

Google have diversified from being just a search engine to now offer many services. Of their products that perform functions that I am interested in, these are the ones that I have switched to, and why I switched. They are roughly in order of when they were released by Google.

Google Groups	nn	Easier to access than having to telnet to a unix box, though slower in use because nn used keyboard shortcuts for everything. Easier to find new groups.
Google News	BBC News	Customisable to stories of interest to me. More news services to choose from.
Picasa	The Gimp	Great user interface and digital-photo specific features make it much more suitable than the industrial-strength general purpose Gimp.
Gmail	Pegasus Mail	Threading makes reading emails easier. I don't have to backup my data.
Google Earth	Worldwind	Better user interface, such as not having to choose which data set to use. Google has better data for the places I am interested in.
May change
Google Analytics	AXS Visitor Tracking	Don't have to monitor the size of my AXS log file. Nicer presentation of results. However, Google is slower, and I haven't yet been able to get all the data I can with AXS.
Will not change soon
Blogger	MovableType	MovableType allows me to customise anything, because it's all written in Perl.
Google Reader	Sharpreader	Sharpreader fits more data on screen, and lets me read faster and easier.
