Debts, deficits and surpluses

In the wake of Australia's austerity budget you may be wondering how Australia's government debt compares with the debt of other countries. According to The Wall Street Journal it's comparatively low.

Amongst countries with S & P's top AAA credit rating Australia's debt to GDP ratio is second lowest after Hong Kong.
