I was very fond of the treadle-powered sewing machine my grandmother owned. It was more the efficiency of the device and the source of its power rather than the sewing aspect that I cared about. At the time I first saw it I foresaw that one day it would make a comeback.
And so, some twenty years later, I finally have a foot-powered monitor. It's not exactly what I had in mind, but it's as close as I'll get in the near term. This is the power for my second monitor, which is often turned off. If I need to watch a Youtube video on the second screen in a hurry, this can now be done with the flick of a big toe.
