Loopy trains

Before heading off for my commute home today, a leisurely half hour drive south-southeast from London, I decided to have a peek at what my journey would be like taking public transport. Courtesy of Google Maps, I think a careful examination of the proposed fastest route demonstrates why taking a bus (the short red section) and two trains (the first from New Eltham, changing at London Waterloo East) manages to take three times as long. What do you think?
