The New York Times has finally seen fit to expand on a nugget of information
I unearthed in March 2007 relating to one of Australia's proudest achievements. In the snappily titled article
Australians Are the World’s Biggest Gambling Losers, and Some Seek Action (possibly paywalled;
similar information in the SMH) they mention that:
Australia’s gambling losses per adult are more than double those in the United States, and around 50 percent higher than second-placed Singapore
