Cheesy statistics

Vegans are exempt from reading this post. 

From a New Scientist story in February 2019, Cheese Meltdown / The Truth About Cheese (subscription required) we learn that the lifecycle of a dairy cow is not the happy one pictured in milk advertisements.



 

Most of them don't have long, fulfilling lives.

 

The article also explains the large environmental impact of cheese production, which has a significantly larger carbon footprint than milk or yoghurt.
